Leeds' Icelandic international midfielder Gylfi Einarsson has been given the chance to put himself in pole position for next season by Kevin Blackwell.
The 26-year-old made just his fourth full appearance of the season against Queens Park Rangers since arriving from Norwegian side Lillestrom on a Bosman free transfer in January.
Injuries are largely to blame for his absence from the team and now fully fit, Blackwell has hinted he will have a lead role in the final three games of the season.
"I changed things around at QPR last week because I want to see more of Gylfi," he said.
"It's the perfect opportunity to test him out a bit more and I think he will get better with more games. He's come from abroad and got injured early on, so it hasn't been ideal for him.
"If he can show us a bit more between now and the end of the season that will be good for both of us."
Einarsson admits he is still taking time to adjust to English football but is confident he can give a good account of himself in the remaining games this season.
"It was good to be back in the team again," he said after Saturday's 1-1 draw at Loftus Road.
"That was a scrappy game but it was a typical English game. I think the team can play the ball better than we did but there will be days like this when we just have to battle hard and I think they did that well.
"When we were a man down we had to work twice as hard and there was some good spirit shown because at least we got a point out of it.
"I will get better, I know that much. With more games I will grow more confident and if I can stay in the team now until the end of the season that will be great."
