Charlton Athletic have expanded their overseas youth network by establishing an academy in the United States. The Charlton Athletic United States Soccer Academy will be set up in Arizona, and the scheme will mirror that already established in Spain. The Addicks have been keen to extend their search for the world's hottest talent, and ideally this latest move will result in the cream of American youth making the move to London in the future. Charlton will also benefit from their coaches absorbing American coaching methods, and academy boss Steve Gritt believes that the move will be very beneficial for Alan Curbishley's side. "I am delighted the club has entered into an academy agreement in America," Gritt told the club's official website. "I hope that the academy and club will ultimately benefit should there be any young players that are considered good enough, and who qualify, to come over and train at our academy with the aim of pursuing a career at Charlton." The Premiership outfit have shown a commitment to world youth development in recent years, and also run coaching courses in South America.
Upon this article, I was thinking do we still have any close links with the Aussies or anywhere else?
