thye've just become a complete farce wit sven tryin to make 2 many subs and not given players a proper run out that are tryin to prove themselves. we all kno rooney is good so no need to play him id have started johnson and downing in place of gerrard and giv them both a full game to see wot they are made of

these match give managers the chance to experiment with the teams tactics and players. at least we now know he wont be playing that tactic in a competitive match that has some consequence, like being nocked out of the world cup

that would be a gud idea and then the players that cant get into the first team have a chance to prove their worth

Totally pointless, at one time I used to look forward to watching England play friendlies. Now they are painful, too many subs, tinkering with formations that the players aren't used to and playing people out of position. Then afterwards Sven is all smiles and says he's learnt alot from the game

tinkering with formations that the players aren't used to and playing people out of position. this is the main aim of friendly matches, try out new things.

2 or 3 times maybe but when it doesn't work after that it becomes pointless. Bit like me on a kareoke however many times I get up won't make any difference I'm a sh*t singer

the point is to find out which formation works wit this set of players and he kno which it is but still tries out other ones. and if he wanted to try out new players then start them and give them a whole game not just 20mins cos thats useless

I agree with Brogie.
My own opinion is that friendlies are often boring when they involve England no matter who is our manager but the last one shows how useless our established national players are and how much chance we give new players who should replace the old ones who have achived NOTHING! Johnson is good in a team up against it as a loan striker and england are often up against it so he is a good addition to the team, downing and wright-phillips are better than the likes of beckham who are only kept in the team because of their past and the revenue they bring in. If we went with the best players in England in these matches we would probably have something to watch and we might do better in major competitions but the fact is its probably not Sven's decsion since the game is but a comercial venture these days.

the friendly was a farce , johnson shouldve got a full game up front and the same for w-phillips and downing but svens never been able to make tough decisions, when he couldnt drop scholes who was badly outta form he played him on the left with lampard in the centre, he was trying again to satisfy everyone, beckham (who wants 100 caps), owen (who he wanted to give 90mins) and the press by playing johnson, downing and SWP.
WE WILL NEVER WIN ANYTHING WITH SVEN GORAN ERIKKSSON IN CHARGE DESPITE HAVING SOME OF THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD

i dont see why hes tryin 2 satisfy ppl, its only a friendly and dont mean anything, it just gives ppl a chance to prove themselves rather than having to do it in important games cos the regulars are injured
*bloody spelling*
