Plans for a London F1 race are still progressing, despite the fact that the British GP will be staying at Silverstone for the next five years.
Bernie Ecclestone has told London Mayor Ken Livingstone that he “would sign a deal today”.
The F1 supremo said the only stumbling block was financing the race.
He said: “Ken knows that. I have told him.
"Ken is still very much behind the idea, which is good. It could happily run alongside a British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It is finding the money to put it on."
The idea of a London race has gathered pace ever since the successful parade of F1 cars down Regent Street in July.
Livingstone has already carried out feasibility studies, which were approved by both the police and Westminster Council.
Ron Walker, the man behind the Melbourne GP, has offered to act as a consultant to the race.

two gps in england- why? they are suppose to be diversifying the sport and taking it to the four corners of the world so why add another one to england, oh yeah money. i'd love to know how much we'll be paying for the gp out of tax money.

i may have to get one of those sniper spots well worth the money. they really are going to do a race there if they can get sumone to get the deal through, its not impossible otherwise they wouldnt have thought about it. i bet the plans for it have been going on for at least a year
